During World War II, a group of Munich University students question the actions and rationality of the Nazi government in Germany. They form a resistance group named the "White Rose," inspired by a secret newsletter they distribute among the student population. Initially, their numbers are limited and they are fearful of being discovered, but after a Nazi Gauleiter delivers a provocative speech, nearly inciting a student riot, their cause gains significant support. The Gestapo, the German secret police, takes charge of the situation, promising to track down and eliminate the members of the White Rose.
